Realtors - Farming Basics

Farming is a profession that once was the most prevailent in America.  The majority of the population worked the land to provide for themselves and others.  As industrialization of everything started taking over the individual family no longer had a need to farm as their needs were met by larger, more efficient farmers.

As a real estate agent you should know how important farming is to your business.  It isn't the tilling, planting, watering, weeding, harvesting of corn that is done by field farmers; no, but it is the same actions toward prospects.

Farmers start with a field which is a specific geographic location.  They do not change fields but work to improve the ones they have.  There is no harvest from picking a field, and never a harvest if you don't.

Tilling the soil is done for many reasons, two of which are: to loosen packed soil and to bring buried nutrients to the surface.  There is no harvest from tilling and never a harvest if you don't.

Planting is the beginning of the reproduction of plants.  By taking the seeds that came about from a previous harvest in another area it is possible to re-create the plants in your own field.  There is no harvest from planting and never one if you don't.

Water is essential to the growth of all living things.  Farmers must either water their plants or pray for the natural rain cycle to water for them.  There is still no harvest from watering and never one if you don't.

Weeding is an essential part of farming because weeds will grow stronger than the plants and choke out the entire farm if ignored.  There is no harvest from weeding and never one if you don't.

Harvesting is the process of taking the grown plants away from the land.  A farmer who enjoys a bountiful harvest is one who tilled, planted, watered, and weeded his field appropriately.  A farmer who keeps some of his harvest for seeding the following year is a farmer who is not afraid of the work it took and is smart enough to know that he can reap harvests like this in perpetuality.

If, as a real estate agent you cannot understand the concept of farming, you should practice something else.
