My daughter played in a soccer tournament this past weekend. It was the normal affair where 40 teams of all different ages get together over a weekend and play game after game while their parents sit along the sidelines and cheer them on. There was, as always, a lot of yelling for this player or that to "Go", or "get the ball!", a constant encouragement.
I don't know if all of this screaming and yelling actually helps the kids perform to a higher level, but I would like to give it a try in my office to see if it helps me. I am looking for a cheering section. I want my family to help me succeed, or, at least, to do my best. It will be nice to be awaken in the morning by my wife who will have a good breakfast ready for me and my uniform cleaned and pressed. I'll get my shoes tied super tight and won't forget anything I need because everyone will be chipping in to make sure. The car will be loaded and someone will drive me to work, right on time!
Each phone call will begin with the chant, "let's go Tim!"
Every rejection will be immediately followed with, "that's alright, stay strong!", and a juicebox.
Every solid lead will be wildly cheered as if I just won the lottery.
There will be rest breaks, more juiceboxes, and lunch as provided by Grandpa. It will probably be KFC because that's his favorite and mine too.
When I tire and can't go on, my family will gather around me and tell me over and over just how great I am and how well I did today.
A weekend soccer tournament is two days of intensity for a single purpose. I am so looking forward to my family bringing it all to the office to help me with my 30 year career of intense effort.
