Bath's Anonymous Petition ?

I just got a call from a friend of mine who has kids at Bath.  He was telling me about a group of parents of high school kids who have started anonymous petitions (his words, not mine).  He said that they are going to get things changed.

I am all for change, when change is needed, but I was a little confused by the idea of petitioning anonymously, so I looked into this a little deeper.

It seems as though there are some students at Bath who feel that the restrictions put on their friends will affect them.  Sorry kids, it usually does work that way.  What they are talking about, though, is much deeper than I thought it would be.  These kids have their parents uptight now about the same things.  That's good salesmanship!

Background Story:  Bath head soccer coach Morgan Lashaway told her players at the beginning of the year that they were NOT allowed to participate in anything else during the soccer season (period).

Perceived Effects:  Students who play other sports are worried that their coaches are going to do the same thing.  This will kill fall softball, summer basketball, spring soccer, etc.  The parents of these kids are now screaming at each other that something has to be done!  Kids aren't allowed to be kids!  What gives her the right! and a bunch of other hoke.

What to do?  Well, some parents (at least in name) have started letter writing, e-mailing, and blogging, all while continuing to stir the rumors.  Because of the technology that is in use today, these letters, e-mails, and blogs can all be used without names.  I think this is a very effective, though gutless, means to an end.  When I say gutless, I mean who really wants to challenge the Bath lifers, or have their kid ostracized by standing up for what they believe in?  When I say effective, why not rumor monger until the whole story is out there and change is demanded from countless hordes of faceless commentators.  At least the tales and the facts will be in writing and those who make decisions will have to do so with what they get.

I like our political system, but I also know that the decisions of those elected or appointed at our mercy, are not directed with the input from the electors but from the input of a trusted few.

I'm done rambling.... the e-mail address for you to comment on your athletic problems at bath is bathwildcat@gmail.com  or anonymously at http://bathsportsparents.blogspot.com go ahead and give it your best (I did)!
