My children go to Bath Schools. I have two of them in the Elementary School right now. They are being educated in the same building that I attended, but everything is different. What I remember from my youth, is that the building was old, usually cold except for the south facing classrooms in the northern wing, clean, and cavernous. Going there now I see that the building has not changed but it sure is more full. It seems as though with the changes in educating our children that have been made over the last 25 years that the administrators of Bath Elementary school have just found ways to cram more crap into a small bag. Because this original building was not built with modern wiring, HVAC, or communications systems in mind (because they were beyond the imagination of the populus at the turn of the century (1900)), there has been a lot of gerri-rigging going on. It would take a year of work and a ton of money to re-work this building so as to eliminate the band-aid fixes that have been done to it. For simplicity sake alone I am all for just tearing this building down and building a new one.
But a new building will cost money, right?
Yes it will.
How much will it cost and what exactly am I getting for my money?
I don't yet know.......but:
I am working on compiling and simplifying the vast amount of information that is required to go through in order to determine what cost the 5.8 mil proposed school levy will have and in what ways its passage or denial could affect my property value.
I look forward to sharing this information with you later this month. Keep me updated with your thoughts as to the levy and or the need for a new elementary school!
